Mt. Tallac Hike

Greetings Explorers!

This spectacular hike offers year round enjoyment for all ages. The summertime offers 360 degree views of Lake Tahoe and the Desolation Wilderness along with views of 12 different alpine lakes from the summit. This hike is also filled with beautiful wildflowers in the early summer. Though this hike is beautiful, this 3,250ft elevation gain is not for everyone.  This is a very strenuous hike that can take up to 8 hours round trip. Make sure to bring lots of water and enough food for the day.  Our suggestion is to leave as early as possible to avoid the intense summer heat and to beat the crowds. The summertime isn’t the only time you can enjoy Mt. Tallac either. If you’re feeling adventurous, strap on your ski’s and split boards and enjoy some of the best backcountry skiing Tahoe has to offer starting at the Spring Creek Trailhead.  Now what are you waiting for? Get out there and explore!

Best Time: July-November
